ART14 - Theatre of Extremes
ART14 – theatre of extremes – is an experimental theatre company; a 'school of thought'; a theatre lab; and a playground for human self-expression and self-empowerment that platforms it's own productions, as well as hosting other collaborative arts events. Based in Totnes, Devon, UK, founded and directed by Josephine Larsen, the company's mission is 'to make the invisible visible', to nurture living performance (as opposed to screen) and to keep human (as opposed to robotic) imagination alive and kicking against the machine of mass media and main-stream trends in an existential crisis.
Josephine's approach to ACTING and IMPROVISATION is rooted in Stanislavsky original techniques, while embracing the various branches of METHOD that have evolved out of his system since. Her teaching includes ancient CLASSIC and POETIC traditions, as well as modern forms of ROLELAY and FORUM THEATRE. An alchemical mix.
ART14's live stage productions are designed as platforms for emerging local talent and positive social change; often CABARET in style, surreal, absurd, provocative, controversial, questioning the reality of all things, constantly evolving with the times.
It's at 'the edge' that new art forms come into being.

Learning to 'act and improvise' develops an unquestionably highly transformative LIFE SKILL. Designed for players (18yrs+), the ART14 courses are for those who are fascinated by the psychology of imagination, creativity, authenticity, presence, and growth as a human. No experience is needed, but a trial session, interview or audition may be required to make sure the courses and workshops are right for YOU!
